M.I.A. is delusional: Claims she is more talented than Lady Gaga

I sort of liked M.I.A. until I heard about this recent mistake she made…this idiot actually thinks that others will agree that she is more talented than Lady Gaga. Well you know what they say, haters are gonna hate..Anyway, my word of advice to M.I.A. , stop smoking rocks because your not prepared for reality baby..

M.I.A. is known for her outspoken views, and in a new interview with British music magazine

NME, the MC says she’s got a bone to pick with some of the latest pop culture trends, namely Lady Gaga and “Twilight.”

M.I.A., who is releasing her follow-up to 2007′s Kala later this year, took issue with the fact that some people compare her eclectic style to Lady Gaga’s. In the interview, which appears in the print version of the magazine but has been transcribed by Oh No They Didn’t, accused Gaga of being a “mimic” rather than making genuinely strange music.

“[T]here’s Lady Gaga — people say we’re similar, that we both mix all these things in the pot and spit them out differently, but she spits it out exactly the same!” M.I.A. said. “None of her music’s reflective of how weird she wants to be or thinks she is. She models herself on Grace Jones and Madonna, but the music sounds like 20-year-old Ibiza music, you know? She’s not progressive, but she’s a good mimic. She sounds more like me than I f—ing do!

“That’s a talent and she’s got a great team behind her, but she’s the industry’s last stab at making itself important, saying, ‘You need our money behind you, the endorsements, the stadiums,’ ” she said. “Respect to her, she’s keeping a hundred thousand people in work.”

When asked about the state of record labels in the changing music industry these days, M.I.A. took another shot at Gaga. “Are [labels] even interested in making money from music anymore? Lady Gaga plugs 15 things in her new video. Dude, she even plugs a burger!” she said. “That’s probably how they’re making money right now — buying up the burger joint, putting the burger in a music video and making loads of burger money.”

And though the British Sri Lankan artist has always been very concerned with the visual element of her work, she said “it’s not like ‘Haus of Gaga.’ Me blindfolded with naked men feeding me apples and sh–.”

M.I.A. risked making other enemies in the pop-culture world by declaring that she had no interest in participating in a “Twilight” movie sountrack. “They asked me,” she revealed. “Luckily Jimmy [Iovine, chairman of Interscope] had beef with the ‘Twilight’ people. So he stepped in and told them to f— off.”

Here is a following up from those controversial comments from M.I.A. and Lady Gaga’s fans and VH1.com

M.I.A. has opened quite a can of worms for herself. After taking a few shots at Lady Gaga in an NME interview,

calling Gaga “a good mimic” and “not progressive,” fans of both ladies are speaking out for and against the rapper’s comments.

“M.I.A. is not even on the same level as GaGa. She only got her 15 seconds of fame because ‘Pineapple Express’ put her song into the trailer. Did anyone give a damn about her before? Nope,” Gabriel wrote. “I respect Lady GaGa a lot more because she worked her way towards where she is. She’s innovative and she’s a talented entertainer and song writer. Have I seen any of those qualities in M.I.A.? Not at all. She’s just trying to get back into the spotlight, but I doubt anybody will care.”

Theboogieman631 noted that regardless of their artistic integrities, comparing the two artists is like comparing apples and oranges. “I don’t see how anyone can compare the

. Their music doesn’t sound remotely the same,” he wrote. “They’re both on different ends of the spectrum.”

Victor defended M.I.A.’s comments, noting that the rapper “is just being honest people and she’s not jealous. Gaga is a mimic nothing more nothing less, she sings about riding disco sticks and gets called a genius for it,” Victor continued. “Her videos rival the advertisements during the Superbowl … Everything she does is a rip off of either Grace Jones, Madonna, Rosin Murphy, Björk, Cyndi Lauper, David Bowie, etc. M.I.A. is only saying what most of us intelligent music lovers already know. Gaga is an overrated mimic.”

Night Train added, “I do agree Lady Gaga is talented but she is overrated. … People out here considering her already greatest artists of all time that’s such a joke.”

Bxjam found humor in M.I.A.’s comments. “There’s an air of jealousy in these comments by M.I.A.,” Bxjam said. “That sh– about the naked men feeding her apples was funny, though.”

XD Jams noted that regardless of Gaga’s abilities as an artist, she has never used her fame as a platform to berate artists, writing, “I think it’s stupid to put down others. I’ve never heard Gaga bash another artist. M.I.A is in fact (missing.in.action) … she’s a one hit wonder artist … she needs to get over it fly away on a paper plane “
